Brooklyn NY's tiny heavyweight, The Savant Guard label returns with a superb debut recording from multi-talented South Carolina indie poponaut, Toro y Moi. ‘Left Alone At Night’ is a pop chestnut of sliced up beats, live instrumentation and vocals, looped and layered into a swerving, heady dance gem that showcases Toro y Moi's dreamy sound and melodic ingenuity.
Backing up the tasty original are club-shattering remixes from Trouble and Bass Crew's Drop The Lime, Philadelphia remix royalty, Pink Skull, and Kinjo's Dave Allison.
XLR8R Artist of The Year, Drop The Lime, offers an urgent and stammering take with a bassline more wobbly than a supermarket shopping cart, while Pink Skull lays it on the line with a futuristic drug-disco mix of genre hopping house craziness. Montreal's Dave Allison strips down to the tech basics and provides an absolutely beautiful house rerub. Bonus tracks on the digital release are from Leeds UK's Afro Digi Scratch with some big-room electro action and London's Tom Lown with a funky and upbeat mix. Pink Skull slows it down with an eight minute dark extended dub, rounding out an impressive and musically diverse seven track EP.
